PHILIPPINE IYO BEGINS

Davao del Sur Launches IYO

The word about the IYO is spreading far, wide and fast. After Cebu, Davao del Sur held last February 26 its own launching celebrations, complete with parades and public appeals for the protection of the world’s oceans.

More than 4,000 students and members of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils (FARMCs) from different villages participated in the parade, carrying "I love the ocean" flaglets. There was also an exchange of blue hearts, signifying the participants’ commitment to help one another in keeping the seas sustainable, and the recitation of the "I love the Ocean" Creed.
