Ecosystems-based Approach for Ecotourism Management Planning Workshop conducted in 10 LGUs in Bohol Danajon Bank and 2 LGUs in Southeast Cebu

From February 26 to 28, 2024, in Baclayon, Bohol — The Local Government Units from Bohol Danajon Bank were Tubigon, Clarin, Inabanga, Bien Unido, Trinidad, Buenavista, Talibon, Getafe, Ubay, and Pres. Carlos P. Garcia. Also, the participating Local Government Units from South Cebu were Argao and Badian. The participating LGUs attended a joint workshop on Ecosystems-based Approach for Ecotourism Management Planning that took place at Alta Bohol Garden Resorts and Convention Center, with the goal of crafting a sustainable ecotourism management plan and to provide training on facilitating such plans.

The workshop was led by a facilitator who is an expert in sustainable tourism and the founder of “Grassroots Travel”, Mr. Joselito “Boboi” Costas. This workshop is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF) Project INSPIRE, Unico Conservation Foundation (UCF) and implemented by Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) in its Protect Danajon and SEE Conservation Project.

This activity aims to mainstream and integrate Ecosystem-based Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) initiatives into the Program and Plans of Local Government Units (LGUs) covering the Danajon Bank Seascape and South Cebu. Achieving sustainable project outcomes and preserving essential data requires the institutionalization of conservation efforts, followed by the alignment of project plans and programs with the local government’s plans and policies.
