Last May 30, 2023 The City Government of Cebu has officially revived the Coastline Management Board (CMB) as part of the overall goal to adopt a more sustainable and eco-friendly development plan in the coastal barangays of Cebu City (Barangay Mabolo to Inayawan). The establishment of the Coastal Management Board (CMB) will enable the local government to carry out environmental projects in the waterfront areas of the capital city. According to the Cebu City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) the board will serve as a platform to balance the environmental conservation and socioeconomic development of these communities.
Projects proposed by the CCENRO as part of the Coastline Management Board’s projects include: (1) Creating livelihood opportunities and establish medium rise buildings for displaced coastal residents (2) Green Revolution Program which includes Replanting mangroves, City-wide cleanup and Urban Gardening (3) Establishment of additional Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and Biofences for Rivers and (4) Rehabilitation of the Cebu Zoo.
