CCEF put up a booth for the “First Cebu Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Info Fair Exhibit” last May 20 to 24, 2016 at the SM Seaside City Atrium in Cebu City. CCEF represented the environmental component in DRR by showcasing coastal and marine ecosystems such as coral reefs, seagrass beds, mangrove and beach forests, their roles and functions in reducing and/or mitigating disasters and/or climate change impacts.
A Summit/Learning Event on Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (iDRR) was also held in the venue on May 20, 2016. The summit was a venue and platform for all DRR stakeholders in Cebu Province and the Visayas region in general to share ideas and good practices for the inclusive implementation of the Sendai Framework and Dhaka Declaration. The output of the event was to develop an agenda and a framework of action for mainstreaming inclusive DRR in local development towards building resilient communities.
The summit was jointly organized by the Cebu Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Network (CDiDRRN) in partnership with the Province of Cebu through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and A2D Project—Research Group for Alternatives to Development Inc. with funding support of Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) and Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH).
