Three MPA Management Bodies Awarded for Sustainable Coastal Livelihood Fund Support in Siquijor

NOVEMBER 9, 2021—- Three Marine Protected Area Management Bodies, Binoongan Marine Management Group, Olang CRM Council and Tulapos MPA Association were awarded fund support for sustainable coastal livelihood in Siquijor.

In the past 2 years, CCEF through Project SEAled has been working with the province of Siquijor in helping establish sustainable coastal livelihoods for the top three MPAs in Siquijor: Tulapos, Binoongan and Olang. In 2020, the three MPAs were trained in a series of livelihood programs including Basic Entrepreneurship Skills and creation of their own ecotourism business plan. Project SEAled is part of the 2-year Our Ocean Program funded by the Unico Conservation Foundation which has recently ended this month.

The first awarding ceremony was held in Enrique Villanueva for Binoongan and Tulapos, hosted by Mayor Gerold Pal-ing. The second awarding ceremony was held in Maria, hosted by Board Member Roslyn Asok. Each of the Management Bodies were awarded a total of Php 20,000 cash assistance as fund support for their ecotourism proposals.

Congratulations to all the management bodies and thank you to all who supported us for our project!
