July 9, 2019—The Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) organized a workshop at Parklane Cebu, with the joint support of CODE_NGO and the Department of Budget and Management. The Open Government Partnership is an international initiative that aims for concrete commitments from government agencies on transparency, accountability, citizens engagement and leveraging technology.
Government agencies such as the Department of Education, National Anti-Poverty Commission, Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Labour and Employment presented their commitments and plans to the CSOs during the workshop. The CSO members were then divided into groups according to the government agency they would like to be included in and presented their recommendations/comments regarding their comments. Each group then went to other agencies to be looped in to the discussion of other groups.
The results of the OGP workshop is expected to be part of the 5th PH-OGP National Action Plan for 2019-2021. Comments and suggestions from CSOs as well to the commitments would also be looped into the plans.
