February 17 – 20 & February 24 – 28, 2024 — The CCEF team recently conducted a series of biophysical assessments in selected Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) under the Networking of MPAs in Coastal LGUs Alliance (NMCLA) Project.

This round of fieldwork covered the municipalities of Samboan, Alcoy, Santander, and Oslob, with the aim of monitoring coral reef health, fish abundance, and overall marine biodiversity. The data gathered serves as a vital reference for improving local MPA management and promoting long-term ecological sustainability.

Assessed Sites:
- Samboan: Tangbo and Colase MPAs
- Alcoy: Poblacion and Guiwang-Daanglungsod MPAs
- Santander: Pasil MPA
- Oslob: Sumilon and Poblacion MPAs
These assessments are critical to understanding the status of our marine ecosystems and ensuring that protective measures remain effective and adaptive. By empowering local government units (LGUs) with up-to-date ecological data, CCEF helps build stronger, more resilient MPA networks.
This initiative is implemented through the support of the Unico Conservation Foundation, whose commitment continues to drive meaningful progress in marine conservation across the region.
