CCEF conducted another round of Biophysical Assessments in Southeast Cebu MPAs

March 24 – 28, 2024 — To continue tracking the health of Southeast Cebu’s marine ecosystems, CCEF conducted another round of biophysical assessments under the Networking of MPAs in Coastal LGUs Alliance (NMCLA) Project.

Following previous assessments in Samboan, Alcoy, Santander, and Oslob, this new round focused on MPAs in the municipalities of Argao, Dalaguete, and Boljoon. The surveys aimed to evaluate coral reef conditions, fish populations, and overall marine biodiversity to support evidence-based MPA management.

Assessed Sites:

  • Argao: Casay, Talaga, Poblacion MPAs
  • Dalaguete: Cawayan and Casay MPAs
  • Boljoon: Arbor and Granada MPAs

These regular assessments are essential in helping local governments make informed decisions for the protection and sustainability of their marine resources. By strengthening Marine Protected Area networks and ensuring consistent monitoring, CCEF supports coastal communities in building more resilient ecosystems.

This initiative is made possible through the generous support of the Unico Conservation Foundation, whose continued partnership enables the advancement of science-based marine conservation across Southeast Cebu.
