The Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) organized a Mangrove Identification Training for the Bugas Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Livestock Owners Organization (BUFFALOO) at the Dapdap Receiving Area in Bugas, Badian, Cebu, on July 3 – 4, 2024. The main goal of the training was to
empower BUFFALOO members with knowledge of various mangrove species and the essential skills to educate visitors about the different mangroves in the area.
Given that BUFFALOO manages an ecotourism livelihood centered around mangroves, understanding these species is crucial. By gaining in-depth knowledge, the team will be better prepared to inform and engage visitors, enriching their experience and promoting the importance of mangrove conservation.
The training was part of the “Adopt a Marine Protected Area (MPA)” program, supported by the corporate partner of CCEF, Booth & Partners. This program has awarded the BUFFALOO to help the organization improve its ecotourism services, particularly through the interpretation and improvement of its physical
facility.
