CCEF Recognized for Protect Danajon Project at the 2024 Bohol Coastal Law Enforcement Assembly

December 10, 2024, Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) successfully hosted the Coastal Law Enforcement (CLE) General Assembly and Awarding Ceremony of the Most Outstanding Marine Protected Area (MPA) and Coastal Law Enforcement 2024.

This landmark event celebrated Bohol’s unwavering commitment to coastal conservation and sustainable resource management, honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to protecting the province’s marine ecosystems.

The assembly opened with the Presentation of Highlights of Coastal Law Enforcement Accomplishments by the CLEC Cluster Chairpersons, representing CLECs 1 to 8. A forward-looking discussion on the proposed fishing season in Bohol was presented, providing insights into sustainable fishing practices aimed at ensuring long-term ecological and economic benefits. Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7, shared inspiring success stories from the Visayan Sea Closed Fishing Season, emphasizing the tangible benefits of proactive conservation measures in nearby waters.

The event’s pinnacle was the Awarding of the Most Outstanding Marine Protected Area and Coastal Law Enforcement for 2024, celebrating the exemplary efforts of local communities and law enforcement teams in preserving Bohol’s marine biodiversity.

Adding to the celebration, the turnover of additional livelihood support to the Most Outstanding Marine Protected Area was conducted by Mrs. Rebecca R. Paz, Chief of Party for the USAID INSPIRE Project. This initiative aims to strengthen the resilience of coastal communities while promoting sustainable resource use.

The assembly was attended by various stakeholders, including the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF, Inc.), which was also recognized for its unwavering contributions to marine conservation and education.

Bohol continues to set a benchmark for coastal resource management in the Philippines. Events like this highlight the province’s commitment to fostering partnerships, empowering communities, and ensuring the sustainability of marine ecosystems.
