Description:

The three reef areas, Albaguen Island, Manta Ray Reef, and Exotic Island make up the core zones of the marine park. Albaguen Island was already declared a Fish Sanctuary in 1997.

History:
The park was established through the combined efforts of the barangay government of Port Barton and the municipal government of San Vicente under the Port Barton Coastal Resource Management Plan. Technically, only the core zone in Albaguen Island was legally protected since January 1998. The proposed ordinance for Manta Ray Reef and Exotic Island is still under review by the Municipal Council although protection is already being enforced after buoys were deployed to mark the boundaries for these areas.
