LEAR Philippines Engineering Branch has been working with Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation, Inc. in a collaborative mangrove growing and various coastal cleanups during the recent years. The Project Go, Grow, Grove sees a strong partnership with different sectors aside from CCEF, to mention some – (1) Bakhaw Women Association, (2) Barangay Local Government Unit of Cotcot, Liloan, (3) Sangguniang Kabataan of Cotcot, Liloan, (4) Municipal Local Government Unit of Liloan’s Office of Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, and communities in the area.
CCEF conducted a Mangrove Survey Assessment in Purok Bakhaw, Cotcot, Liloan, Cebu last January 6, 2023. The team is composed of CCEF Employees namely: Research Generation Officer Lloyd G. Yosoya, Project Associate Justine Jace R. Baisac, Communications Associate Francis Miguel Z. Isok, and Fisheries Associate Danilo Delizo, Jr. The assessment was also participated by Bakhaw’s Women Association Head Maruthel P. Delgado.
On January 20, 2023, the LEAR Philippines Engineering Branch, together with Mr. Lloyd G. Yosoya, Francis Miguel Z. Isok, Pablita T. Huerbana, and Mr. Justine Jace R. Baisac of Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation, Inc. conducted the mangrove growing and coastal clean up simultaneously. The initiative is the result of the latest mangrove assessment.
The aim of this Mangrove Rehabilitation program was to (1) Rehabilitate the mangrove area by conducting mangrove growing with regular monitoring of mangroves as well as coastal clean up that is one of the threats in our marine ecosystem; (2) Strengthen of Eco-governance Strategies of MLGU Liloan in terms of Mangrove Wise Conservation and Management for Cotcot Mangrove Diversity; and (3) Incorporate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign for environmental awareness, visibility, and mainstreaming.
