January 29, 2020— In celebration of the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines, the Archdiocese of Cebu is launching its 1st Archdiocesan Convention on Climate Change this January 31-Feb 1. Being the first Archdiocese to receive Christianity in the country, the Archdiocese of Cebu is holding the convention as a response to the call of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si , in calling the people to take action in fighting climate change.
The convention will gather insights from representatives from over 160 parishes, as well as experiences from leaders in the field from NGOs, private organizations and CSOs. The convention will highlight five ecological actions which include Renewable energy, Water, Solid Waste Management, Climate Change and Disaster Resiliency and Marine Conservation.
