CCEF Partners with Argao to Keep the Coasts Clear

On July 19, 2022, a courtesy call on the proposed initiatives for the coastal conservation of the seas and oceans of Argao was conducted at the Maayo Argao Resort, Cebu — with those in attendance being Municipal Mayor Hon. Allan M. Sesaldo, Vice Mayor Orvi G. Ortega, Agriculture Technologist of Argao, and the Argao Marine Protected Areas (MPA) Technical Working Group composed of Mr. Lloyd Yosoya, Mr. Ranie Ibañez, Mr. Justine Baisac, and Mr. Danilo Delizo Jr.

Discussed during the courtesy call was an agendum on the feedback and update of the event last July 18, 2022, wherein the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) organized a two-day orientation and workshop on MPA planning and reviewing so as to support the municipality’s marine biodiversity and ecosystems.

In addition, another agendum that was brought up in the courtesy call was the upcoming Southeast Cebu Coastal Resource Management Council (SCCRMC) meeting which will take place in the month of August 2022. As the secretariat of the council, CCEF is expected to be present at the meeting along with the municipality mayors of Alcoy, Argao, Dalaguete, Dumanjug, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Sibonga, Santander, and Samboan, Municipal Agriculture Officer, and/or the Fisheries Technician.

With reference to the third agendum, this was in regard to the forthcoming event on Strengthening Environmental Advocacy through MPA Knowledge, Livelihood Training and Constituency Building, more commonly known as SEAklab Coastal Camp. In this event, Argao will serve as the municipal host, centering on sustainable tourism as its advocacy.

Through the regional-wide SEAklab Coastal Camp, youth leaders from Bohol, Cebu, and Siquijor will be able to take part in this leadership and environmental awareness program as future stewards and policy-makers of the country.
