The Southeast Cebu Coastal Resource Management Council (SCCRMC) held its Regular Cluster Meeting, bringing together local chief executives, DENR-CENRO Argao, and representatives from member municipalities. The meeting underscored SCCRMC’s continuing role in safeguarding the Cebu-Bohol Strait and Tañon Strait Protected Seascapes, vital fisheries ecosystems in Central Visayas.



Key Highlights:
- Financial Report: Treasurer Cindy Plando confirmed the MPAN Savings trust fund remains at ₱606,800. Members were reminded of their annual contributions and the potential use of funds for meetings and MPA improvements.
- Resolutions: The council finalized the resolution to transfer custodianship of funds from Dalaguete to Oslob and discussed requesting a patrol boat from Gov. Pamela Baricuatro.
- CCEF Reporting: Project Coordinator Ranie Ibañez presented MEAT results for 2025–2026, noting improvements in Oslob and highlighting Sumilon Marine Sanctuary’s top score (82/84). No municipality showed a decline.
- Other Matters:
- Reassessment of MPA technical descriptions with DENR-CENRO Argao and NAMRIA involvement.
- Presentation of reef survey data under NMCLAP in the next meeting.
- Crown-of-Thorns outbreak response, with LGUs urged to conduct localized removal/injection efforts.
- Next Steps: The next cluster meeting was scheduled in Oslob on October 13, 2026.


Despite challenges in contributions and technical documentation, the meeting reinforced SCCRMC’s collaborative spirit. By aligning strategies, sharing expertise, and addressing urgent conservation issues, the council continues to strengthen coastal resource management and community resilience across Southeast Cebu.
