CCEF elected in Talisay City Development Council

TALISAY CITY – “Good governance means competent
management of an LGU’s resources and affairs in a manner that is open,
transparent, accountable, equitable and responsive to people’s needs”. The
endeavor of the LGU will go a long way alongside the aid of the various
Accredited CSO that will serve as the voice of the minority and public servants
for the Talisaynon.

On September 13, 2019, CCEF staffs Mr. Lloyd G. Yosoya, the Program Coordinator of Our Ocean and Mr. Justine Jace R. Baisac, the Project Associate of Project SMILE, joined the CSO Meeting presided by Talisay City Mayor Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr.

While unity was the main theme for the said meeting, variety of Civil Societies Organization were categorized under four distinct special bodies. The CCEF was elected under the City Development Council which is the planning and evaluating body among the four. The remaining bodies were the Local Health Board whose service involved health, Local School Board for teaching and Local Peace and Order Board that relates to Peace and Security.

Even amidst certain challenges that lingered
the Local Government Unit, Mayor Samsam graced the crowd with encouraging news
pertaining that there are particular social services that were approved and
presently operating at Talisay City. One of these is the Action Agad Service
Desk
that operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. Services offered include
queries of multifaceted concerns regarding health, security, etc.  The Talisay also formed a partnership with Hi
Precision Diagnostic Center Inc.
that offered top-quality, affordable and
modern healthcare services, and with St. Francis and Mt. Olives for
funeral service assistance package that can be avail for free.

In environmental aspect, he also tackled the
mandated weekly drainage cleanup, monthly river cleanup and quarterly coastal
cleanup on the selected areas of Talisay City. Basura mo, Panginabuhian ko
is an ongoing program where you can exchange your garbage to rice or even
school supplies. There has also been a challenge being set by the LGU to
encourage dwellers to be eco-warriors wherein if certain criteria will be met, they
will provide financial incentives to the cleanest purok, barangay, elementary
schools and even high schools. These, according to him, were but a stepping
stone for a cleaner and greener Talisay nevertheless, he stated that there is a
large work that needs to be done in order to balance industrial and ecological
advancement while obtaining both favorable benefits.

According to Talisay City Mayor Samsam, Talisay City should have its supposed brand which sets it apart from others. Mr. Yosoya said that the city can be the next biggest tourist attraction considering the coastal and natural giftedness the city has to offer. But he connoted that no matter how determined and passionate we are to our individual burden for our environment, it will be worthless if we are diverse in mind. Unity precedes Prosperity and that there is a lot more to Talisay City than meets the eye.
