Panglao, Bohol, September 5 – 8, 2023 – The Protect Danajon Project conducted a 4 – day Open Water Dive Certification Training for the newly formed Danajon Monitoring Team held at Mario Dive Resort, Panglao, Bohol.

The Batch 1 trainees were composed of representatives from the Municipality of Tubigon, Municipality of Bien Unido, Municipality of Getafe, and Municipality of Calape, Bohol. The Bohol Island State University – Candijay Campus also joined the said training.

As part of this initiative, the project focuses on certifying 20 personnel through PADI Dive Certification to form the Monitoring Team. Under the leadership of BPEMO, the Danajon Monitoring Team will play a pivotal role in conducting periodic monitoring and rapid post-damage assessments caused by both natural calamities and human activities in the Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef.

This unified effort signifies a strategic leap towards comprehensive conservation and proactive management of coastal ecosystems in the Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef.
