History:
The barangay council of Banilad, Dumaguete City requested the Coastal Resource Management Project to assist in the establishment of a marine reserve in the barangay. The Coastal Resource Management Project (CRMP) coordinated baseline assessments with assistance of the Silliman University Marine Laboratory, The Center of Excellence in Coastal Resource Management (COE-CRM), and the Ting Matiao Foundation.
