December 6-8, 2023, Punta Engaรฑo, Lapu-Lapu City – CCthcooEF, with USAID, through the Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF) conducted a training on ๐๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ๐-๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ to 25 local leaders and planners representing municipalities in Bohol Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef, as well as the Southeast and Southwest partner municipalities of Cebu. The initiative aimed to facilitate a seamless integration of the project into the broader developmental framework of both local and provincial governments involved.
Distinguished experts on their field serves as resource speakers, including Mr. Noel Barut, who delivered a presentation on the fundamentals of Ecosystems-based Approach to Marine and Fisheries Management, understanding the “what’s”, “why’s”, and “how’s”. Another session was led by Mr. Rizaller Amolo, who discussed the significance of Ecosystem Connectivity and how Marine Protected Area (MPA) networks improve Seascape-level Protected Areas. Additionally, Mr. Marlito Guidote provided experiential inputs in Coastal Law Enforcement, while Mr. Joselito Costas shared his expertise on the initiation and Start-ups of Sustainable Coastal Ecotourism.
Participants also engaged in a learning visit in Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary and San Vicente Marine Sanctuary where they had the opportunity to witness and learn about exemplary community-led Coastal Ecotourism practices in action. CCEF is committed to empowering government leaders by capacitating them to develop and manage their coastal and fishery resources to address the livelihood needs of communities while also safeguarding the environment.
