BOHOL DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES EXPRESS REINFORCEMENT FOR DANAJON BANK DOUBLE BARRIER REEFS

October 10, 2023 – Tagbilaran, Bohol – CCEF team, led by the DENR had a coordination meeting with Bohol District Representatives, Hon. Maria Vanessa C. Aumentado (2nd district) and Hon. Kristine Alexie B. Tutor (3rd district). CCEF Team took this fat chance to introduce the organization, the Protect Danajon Project, and its activities.  Through the said meeting, DENR presented the proposed extent of the Danajon Protected Seascape and the flow of the upcoming Protected Area Suitability Assessment (PASA) as part of the process of the declaration. In the present circumstances, Congresswoman Aumentado said to have drafted a bill declaring some of the areas along the Danajon Bank as Marine Parks. After being informed, the District Representative has expressed to support the Danajon Protected Seascape bill and withdraw her previously filed bill. On the part of Hon. Kristine Alexie B. Tutor, she intends to co-author the Danajon Protected Seascape Bill.

CCEF NOW PART OF THE BOHOL DANAJON BANK DOUBLE BARRIER REEF MANAGEMENT COUNCIL

October 12, 2023 – Anda de Boracay, Anda, Bohol –Bohol Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef Management Council (BDBDRMC) has adopted and unanimously approved a resolution granting the membership of the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation to the council. This happened during the BDBDRMC regular meeting presided by its chairman, Hon. Duallo of LGU-Buenavista. This membership strengthens the collaboration of CCEF with the ten (10) member LGUs and thus provides an efficient way to implement the Protect Danajon Project. Furthermore, The CCEF was given the floor to provide updates of the conducted activities where Atty. Dalton Dacal the Project Manager reported that the Open Water Course dive training was conducted, and the participants were formed to be the Monitoring Team (the DReAM – Danajon Research and Monitoring Team). DREAM Team was moved and suggested to the council to be adopted and will then be tackled on the next meeting.
